The world of Yaruma

Our world is split in four regions. The realms of water in the north are inhabited by mermaids, wihle the realms of fire in the south are ruled by the dragons. The realms of earth in the west are occupied by the elves, the realms of air in the east are dominated by dwarves and angels.
Split in the four elements, our world is inhabited by many diffrent creatures, who utilize their envirinment and fight for supremacy.

In the middle of the four continents is a much smaller piece of land. Yaruma is a mixture of all four realms, a land of magic and wonder, that is not yet dominated by one race, but rather a melting point for the coexistance of all creatures.

History

Almost 4000 years ago, a devastating war destroyed the world. A powerfull æsir rose against the gods themeselves. He gathered a huge army and wanted to overthrow the gods so he could take their place and rule over all the souls.
The battle between heaven and earth destroyed the lands. But even tough the æsir, which today is only known under the name xxxx, “terrible traitor“, had had many followers, the gods were stronger. In a last battle on the island Yaruma, xxxx strode for one last strike. He used necromancy to bring back all his fallen soldiers and send them out against the gods. Those used their combined forces to cast a spell that defeated xxxx once and for all.
The spell killed him and his army, but it also destroyed the surrounding. A darkness spread in the whole world. The center lay in Yaruma, where it was the worst, the further away from the epicenter, the brighter it got with the edges of the world barely effected.

Today

This happened about 3000 years ago. Since then most of the world was covered in a total darkness, which no living creature could cross. The air was poisoned and so thick that one could barely move through it. Many cities were destroyed and the people had to either protect themselves and their houses with magic or move underground.

Over the centuries the darkness slowly disappeared, becoming smaller and smaller and allowing the four regions to rebuild themeselves. For the last hundreds of years only Yaruma was still affected by the darkness, but even there the air cleaned and the sun began to shine again.

A few weeks ago, the darkness disapeared completly and for the first time in 3000 years the sund touched Yaruma again. People slowly dared to go outside and now new ways are open for them! New settlements are already being build and a wonderous, unknown world waits to be discovered.

The kingdoms of earth

The kingdoms of earth are located in the wester part of our world.
Thick forests and vast grassland are characteristic for this land, which is mostly ruled by elves, humans and beastlings.
The north is made of coniferous forests, rocky coasts and lakes, while the south is made of jungle, steppes and deserts.
Though there are some mountains, most of the land is rather flat.

The kingdoms of air are located in the eastern part of our world.
High mountains, deep valleys, wide steppes and long beaches are characteristic for this land, which is mostly inhabited by angels, nergals, dwarves and humans.
The north is made of coniferous forests, rocky coasts and lakes, while the south is made of jungle, steppes and deserts.

The kingdoms of water

The kingdoms of water are located in the northern part of our world.
Forests, lakes, rivers and snowy mountains are characteristic for this land, which is mostly inhabited by humans, nymphs, beastlings and fae, as well as mermaids, niccas, aquarii and selkies in the many waters in and around Raygaeth.
Though there are some mountains, most of the land is rather flat.
Raygaeth has a very wet climat. It rains and snows a lot and there are many lakes and rivers.
