Werewolves

Life expectancy: ca. 100 years

Appearance:
Werewolves look like normal humans and are usually not distinguishable from them.
They stand about 1,60 m to 1,90 m high. Their skintone ranges from rosy white to dark brown, their hair can be blond, brown, black, grey or more rarely red. Most men can grow facial hair. They also have hair on other bodyparts, like arms and legs, back or chess.
As they age their hair often turns grey or even white. Their eyes can be be brown, blue, green or grey.
When the fullmoon shines, they turn into wolves. In this form they look like normal wolves, only about two or three times as big.
They have the same eyecolour they have as humans and their fur usually has the same colour as their hair.

Language:
Werewolves speak the common tounge, but they can also communicate with other werewolves by barking, howling or with body language.
They can not speak human language in their wolf form.

Information:
There are two kinds of werewolves. Those who are born as wolves and those who become wolves after they were bitten by a werewolf.
When two werewolves have a child and sometimes even when a werewolf has a child with a human, an elf or a dwarf, that child is a werewolf from birth.
When a human, an elf or a dwarf is bitten by a werewolf at fullmoon and does not receive an antidote within one hour, he will become a werewolf.
Werwolves have to transform into a wolf at fullmoon. Though they can suppress the transformation with a special potion, that is very painfull and unhealthy for them.

Werewolves belong to the element of earth and most packs live in the kingdom of earth, though they can also be found in the kingdoms of water and air.
No one knows exactly where they came from, since they were not created by the gods. It is speculated, that they mutated from shapeshifters about 4000 years ago. They are one of the youngest races of this world.

Most werewolves live in packs, that are lead by an alpha leader. The members of a pack have very strong connection to one another and great respect for their alpha. His word is accepted and followed without questin. Fights within a pack only accur when an alpha dies. The winner of these fights will become the new alpha. Other than that, the members of a pack never attack each other.
Werewolves who are born into a pack, usually don’t leave it. A pack is like a family and it is very rare, that a werewolf leaves his pack.

There are bad reports of werewolf not having control of themeselves and attacking others during fullmoon. It is true, that it is difficult for werewolves to control themeselves in their wolf form. But they can learn it, as long as they accept the wolf within them and born werewolves learn it from their parents or members of their pack from birth on. Once they have full control over their inner wolf, they can even learn to transform whenever they want into a wolf and back into a human, but they can never stop the transformation during fullmoon.
Most reports of these werewolf attacks are about bitten werewolves. They often can not cope with the wolf inside them and their new identity and begin to hate. They don’t try to control themeselves and just let the animal take over.
Many packs try to take these werwolves in and teach them, but it doesn’t always work.

A pregnancy lasts 8 month. During their pregnancy women don’t transform into wolves, not even at fullmoon. Women have generally more control over their wolf and during a pregnancy they are able to resist the fullmoon. Though these nights are quite painfull for them.
Born werewolves transform for the first time in their puberty, girls usually between the age of 12 and 14, boys between the age of 13 and 15.
But even before that, obvious traits will occur, like growing claws or wolfears during fullmoon, howling or barking or the urge to hunt mice or rabbits.
The first time a child transforms, the whole pack comes together to celebrate and the teenager is accepted to be of age and as an equal member of the pack with all rights and obligations
The young werewolf is taken on the collective hunt and let in on the secrets of the transformation.

A bitten werewolf transforms for the first time the next fullmoon after they were bitten. The first transformation is very painful and the hormonal and physical changes can cause the person to be more aggressiv, sensitiv or sad, especially around their first few fullmoons.
Only humans, elves and dwarves are affected by the poison. Other races don’t transform into werewolves, but a bit can cause dangerous infections and even cause death.
Humanoids also react to the poison. Thouh they don’t transform into wolves at fullmoon, they start to transform into their own animal form, only bigger and very aggressiv and dangerous. Such were-humanoids are often outcasts, not belonging to their own race anymore, but also not accepted by werewolves.

Humanoids

Appearance:
Humanoids are a hybrid of a human and an animal. The most common forms are lizardpeople, catpeople and bullpeople.
Humanoids usually los like animals with the physique of a human. They walk on two legs and have two arms, but have clear animalistic features. Their head is usually shaped like an animal, though can also be shaped like a human. They can have horns, tails, snouts, beaks, wings and other animal traits. Sometimes their whole body is covered in fur, scales or feathers, sometimes only parts of their bodies are covered.

Language:
Humanoids speak the common tounge. They don’t have their own language, but members of the same race can communicate trough animalistic sounds and body language.

Information:
Humanoids don’t see themeselves as one people. They live in small tribes of the same kind. (Catpeople live amongst catpeople, birdpeople live amongst birdpeople…)
There are many diffrent tribes of humanoids. For example:
Reptilians: Lizard like humanoids who live in the kingdoms of fire and the warm, southern kingdoms of air and earth. They often work as traders.
Minotaurs: Bull like humanoids who live in the kingdoms of earth and are very militant and often aggressiv.
Avians: Bird like humanoids, who live in the mountains of the kingdoms of air. They are very shy and avoid other people.
Depending on their race, humanoids behave and live very diffrently. Some are peaceful vegetarians, some are cunning traders and some are brutal warriors.

Humanoids were created by Arawn, the goddess of animals, about 40’000 years ago.

Humanoids live in small groups or tribes amongst their own kind and usually live a nomadic life. They are often merchants, who travel the world and sale their goods.
They live in caves or simple huts or tents.
Some tribes are ruled by the strongest male, some by the oldest female, some by an elected council or they don’t have a real leader at all. But there is no government that rules over all humanoids.
In some tribes men and women are equal, in some they’re not.

Most kinds of humanoids come of age between 25 and 35, when they are full grown.
A pregnancy can last from 7 to 14 month. Most tribes don’t really value education, since their life is rather practical and simple and children are usually teached in everyday tasks, like field work, hunting, handicraft, trade or fighting.

Shapeshifters look just like humans.

When they transform into their animal form they look just like a normal animal. There are no mixed forms. Shapeshifters don’t display animal traits when they’re in their human form and no human traits in their animal form.

Language:
Shapeshifters speak the common tounge. In their animal form they can not speak human language but make the sounds a normal animal would make.

Information:
Shapeshifters have the ability to transform into an animal. Every shapeshifter can transform into one specific animal. They can transform into an animal and back into a human any time they want and are never forced to transform.
The transformation is painful, but after it, the shapeshifter usually feels stronger and freer. They feel a very strong connection to their animalistic side and can always feel the animal within themeselves.

Shapeshifters were created by Arawn, about 5’000 years ago.
They don’t see themeselves as one people and therefore don’t have a government or ruler and no land belongs to them.

Shapeshifters are usually loners who roam the lands on their own or small groups, often families. Some of them live in the cities of humans or other races, but most prefer the wilderness, where they can spend much time in their animal form.
Unlike werewolves, shapshifters don’t have to learn how to control their animalistic side. They don’t loose control, when they transform. Though it is believed, that a shapeshifter that spends to much time as an animal, will loose the human inside himself and turn more and more feral until they completly forget their human side and start to behave just like an animal.
A pregnancy lasts 7 month. Women should not transform during their pregnancy, since it is very likely, that this will kill the child. They deliver their babies in human form, but are able to transform again, after the birth.
A shapeshifter child can not transform on their own, but changes every time its mother changes. The ability to transform on their own usually develops at around the age of 10 to 13. After they transform for their first time by themeselves, they are no longer bound to their mother.
A shapeshifter always turns into the animal of their mother, no matter if their father transforms into a diffrent animal, or is not a shapeshifter at all.

Information:
Skinchangers have the ability to take control of animals. Their soul can leave their body and enter and take over an animal. Their human body stays wherever the soul left it, in a state of coma. Their soul can wander of with the animal.
Depending on the kind of animal, taking control can be very easy to rather difficult. It also depends on the experience of the skinchanger.
Whatever happens to them while inside an animal, does not happen to their human body. If the animal is wounded or sick, it does not affect the skinchanger. Whatever the animal eats, does not affect the human body and they can starve or die of thirst, if they are gone to long.
If an animal is killed, while a skinchanger is inside it, the skinchanger does not die, but it will leave a great trauma on the skinchangers soul.
Should the human body be killed, while the skinchanger is inside an animal, the soul is not able to return to its body and trapped inside the animal. In this case the soul of the skinchanger and the soul of the animal will slowly merge, until both have forgotten, they were ever appart and the skinchanger dies when the animal does.
Some skinchangers have a companion animal, with whom they have a special connection. The companion accompanies the skinchanger in his human form and can be entered very easily by him. The companion becomes like a second body. For other skinchangers it is very difficult, often even impossible to enter someone else’s companion.

Skinchangers usually develop their ability to change skin between the age of 4 and 8. In the beginning they often start to take over animals while they dream. In these early changes they often find their companion with whom they can train and do their very first willed change.
